Lakeside

HBC, a LEED-AP Landscape Architecture, Land Planning and Engineering firm, is currently designing a new Traditional Neighborhood Development near the Town of Holden Beach, NC.  The project will redevelop an old 50-acre sand and marl mining operation into a community that uses the most up-to-date Low Impact Development (LID) practices.  HBC has designed Lakeside with bioretention cells instead of the conventional storm water infrastructure, home site rainwater collection, and wildlife habitats to improve the presents of native flora and fauna.  Lakeside includes a 16 acre, spring fed lake that has nearly perfect water quality.  HBC’s design enhances this prominent water feature by protecting the resource from typical residential pressures.  Lakeside is planned to offer mixed economic levels and a neighborhood scale, which will foster a sense of community.
