Located on the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cape Fear River, this project demanded design and public facilitator skills, to best manage the environment and the historic significance of this Cape Fear port. We encouraged and sought both public and municipal visions for the site that, in the end, resulted in a “point of destination” reflecting the use and architectural acceptance of the City of Southport and the community. Further, a re-design of the adjacent public streets, parking, and sidewalks, helped solve the vehicular and pedestrian problems that had long plagued the area. Overall, our addition of new parks and walks to the Southport River Walk enhanced the Southport living, dining, and shopping experience.
