Heather Maud McNaughton Burkert

Principal, President, RLA, LEED - AP
Heather Burkert is a Landscape Architect registered in both North Carolina (RLA #870) and South Carolina (RLA #1390). She received a Bachelor of Horticulture Science from Michigan State University and has been practicing in the field oflandscape architecture and horticulture since 1973.

Her vision is to create stimulating public and private spaces that enhance our quality of life and the environment. Her passion includes promoting educational and interpretive designs that compliment both, the site and the client's needs with beauty and practicality for the present and the future.

Prior areas of service include the Brunswick Community College Horticulture Advisory Board, the Audubon International Sanctuary Resource Committee of Brunswick Community College, and the New Hanover County Arboretum Board.

Henry L. Burkert

Principal, Vice-President
Henry Burkert is a Certified Landscape Designer (#85) accredited by the Association of Professional Landscape Design (APLD). He schooled in Landscape Horticulture at Michigan State University and North Carolina State University. He served on the City of Wilmington Tree Commission from 1997 to 1998 and has earned the reputation in the region as a respected and accomplished landscape designer and horticulturist. His strengths lie in his diverse plant palette, a deep understanding of plants and their surrounding environment, and his 30+ years of skill and experience in the field of landscape design and construction.

His knowledge, foresight, and practicality are priceless to our design process. Henry has previously taught a Landscape Construction class at Brunswick Community College and has served on the Horticultural Advisory Board at Brunswick Community College.

Carrie Maud Burkert Kelley

Principal, BLA
Maud Kelley is a landscape designer aspiring to gain her registration as a landscape architect, and has been a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects since 1999. She received a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2002, graduating Suma Cum Laude from the Landscape Architecture Program.

Along with her Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance, Maud has experienced a life seasoned in culture, travel, music, art, and nature. All of these experiences have made her very open and ambitious, leaving her always ready for new challenges and opportunities. In turn, they have impacted her design, enabling her to draw influences from people and places worldwide.

She has been privileged to have worked on such projects as the United States Federal Courthouse in Charlotte, NC, gaining experience with government projects and restoring the historic value of the building through the landscape.  She also has worked closely with developers with environmentally sensitive communities (work including parks, street tree plans, monumentation, and entry design), offering plans laden with native plant species and a variety of design styles.

Maud gained a lifetime of experience growing up in a family business of landscape architecture, landscape installation, landscape maintenance, and plant nurseries, enabling her to experience every part of the business and apply it to her work today.
